Wages (As of 11-10-06) Starting rate for new apprentices is 60% of the Journeyman Lineman rate for the geographical area they are applying to. Listed below are the approximate starting rates for the states in Northeastern Joint Apprenticeship's jurisdiction. Apprentices receive 5% increases upon completion of 1,000 hours of on-the-job training and other related requirements.
After completing the apprenticeship you will earn the full Journeyman Lineman's rate. Benefits Medical Insurance is provided to you and your dependent family members. Also, most Local Union plans include dental and optical coverage as well. Each plan varies on when coverage begins; generally between a three (3) to six (6) month waiting period. Contributions will be made on your behalf by the contractors that will be employing you. Retirement There are at least three (3) pension plans that you will be a participant of:
College credits are available to the Graduates of the Apprenticeship Program. Twenty-five (25) college credits are issued by the American Council on Education (A.C.E.). These credits are transferable towards continuing college education. Veterans who paid into the VA Educational Benefits Program may be eligible for educational benefits while going through the apprenticeship training program.
