Benefits
Medical Insurance is provided to you and your dependent family members. Also, most Local Union plans include dental and optical coverage as well. Each plan varies on when coverage begins; generally between a three (3) to six (6) month waiting period. Contributions will be made on your behalf by the contractors that will be employing you.

Retirement
There are at least three (3) pension plans that you will be a participant of:
  1. Local Union Pension - Contributions are made by the employer. Generally 10% to 20% of your gross earnings as a Journeyman Lineman.  Some apprentice rates have a stepped progression not tied to the gross wages.

  2. National Electrical Benefit Fund (N.E.B.F) - Contributions of 3% of your gross earnings will be made by the employer. This is a defined benefit pension plan that is currently paying $32.00 per month for every year of service.

  3. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Pension (I.B.E.W.) – A portion of your Union dues is contributed to this plan. This is a defined benefit pension plan that is currently paying $4.50 per month for each year of service.
College credits are available to the Graduates of the Apprenticeship Program. Twenty-five (25) college credits are issued by the American Council on Education (A.C.E.). These credits are transferable towards continuing college education. Veterans who paid into the VA Educational Benefits Program may be eligible for educational benefits while going through the apprenticeship training program.
